Department budgets can be prepared, approved, and monitored in My Union. The following instructions cover the basics of managing budgets in My Union.

Preparing Budget for Upcoming Year

  1. Go to My Union and log in.
  2. Click the Employee button on the homepage of My Union.
  3. Click the Budget Officer button on the Employees page.
  4. Under the "Budget to Prepare for Next Year", header click the link to "View All Available Worksheets".
  5. Choose the worksheet for the budget you want to manage.
  6. On this page, you will be presented for your tentative budget, the approver of the budget, and a line for each GL account within the budget (See figure A below). You can also see the budget and amount spent from previous years.
  7. Review the amounts under each account. If you need to make changes, click the pencil icon and enter a new amount. You can also list the reason for the change under the Justification field.
  8. When you are finished, click the Submit for Approval link at the top of the page. The budget will then be sent to the individual who has been specified as the budget approver.

Monitor Budget for Current Year

  1. Go to My Union and log in.
  2. Click the Employee button on the homepage of My Union.
  3. Click the Budget Officer button on the Employees page.
  4. Under the "This Year's Active Budget", header click the link to "View All Available Worksheets".
  5. Select the budget you want to view.
  6. This page will display info for your current budget.
