Printing Resource Hotline Information on Student IDs
Per KRS 164.2815, beginning August 1, 2020, any student identification badge issued by a public or
private postsecondary education institution, vocational school, or any other institution
that offers a postsecondary degree, certificate, or licensure shall contain the contact
information for:
(1) A national domestic violence hotline;
(2) A national sexual assault hotline; and
(3) A national suicide prevention hotline.
This can be done entirely through Premisys, but that is not without issues. Here’s an alternate method that will allow you to print this information on the card backs ahead of time in bulk, and the fronts can be printed using the usual method within Premisys as they are issued to students.
Instructions:
Download this PDF:
Open the PDF using Adobe Acrobat / Acrobat Reader by right-clicking the file, selecting ‘Open with’, then ‘Adobe Acrobat’ or ‘Adobe Acrobat Reader.'
Click the Print Icon to open up the print dialog. Depending on the version of Acrobat that is installed, you might need to click the ‘Menu’ in the upper left instead, and then select ‘Print.’
Load the cards into the printer, taking care that the orientation is correct. For example - on the Housing ID Printer (Zebra ZC300), if you want to print on the BACKS of the cards, you must insert the stack of cards with the preprinted card number FACING UP AND TO THE RIGHT.
In the print dialog, Select the ID Card printer, specify the number of cards loaded in Step 4 (copies). Make sure that ‘Actual Size’ is selected. The options should more or less match this screenshot:
The cards are now ready to be reloaded into the printer when a new student ID needs to be issued. Note that to print on the blank FRONTS of the cards, the proper orientation on the Housing ID printer is for the cards to be inserted/stacked with the preprinted card number FACING DOWN AND ON THE LEFT SIDE.
