There may be a time when an instructor needs to restore a course they will first need to have a backup before proceeding (See "How to Backup a Course in uLearn" )


Back Up Course

  1. Login to uLearn and navigate to the course shell you want to back up.
  2. Click the Edit Settings icon and choose Backup .
  3. Leave the default settings as they are and click the Jump to Final Step button at the bottom of the page. Please note that this will back up course content but not student data.
  4. Click the Continue button.
  5. Locate the backup file under the Course Backup Area header. You can verify the correct file by noting the file name and date. Click Download to save the file to your computer. It will most likely be saved in the Downloads folder of your computer.
  6. At this point, it is recommended that you save a copy of the backup file in to your OneDrive. In fact, it is recommended to save a backup of all your courses.


Restore Course

  1. Navigate to the course you want to restore the backup into.
  2. Click the Edit Settings icon and choose Restore.
  3.  
  4. On your computer, go to the Downloads folder (or wherever you saved the course backup file). Drag the backup file to the Import a Backup File area.
  5. Once the file has uploaded, click the Restore button.
  6. On the next page, scroll to the bottom and click the Continue button.
  7. On the next page, choose "Merge the backup course into this course" under the "Restore into this course" header. Then click the Continue button.
  8. The next several pages contain the setting information for the backup. You can leave these as they are and keep click clicking the Next button at the bottom of the pages.
  9. Finally, you will reach the last page where you will click the Perform Restore button. Please note that depending on the size of the course, this may take a moment.
  10. At this point, your backup file should be restored. Please review the continue and make any necessary adjustments such as assignment due dates.
